Triumph Repair: Tranny Oil Seal Replacement, rear flange, gear puller

Question
Hi Scott, I have a 69 GT6+ that is leaking transmission fuild from the rear oil seal. Can I replace it without the removal of the transmission?

Answer
Possibly;

You would need enough clearance to jack up the rear of the tranny to clear the driveshaft tunnel, then have enough clearance to get a gear puller on the rear flange.  Then you may be able to use a pry tool to get out the rear seal.  It may be difficult to do so without pulling the tail housing off to clear the shaft of the seal.  I've never had that kind of luck, though.  It usually safer/less frustrating to do this kind of repair with the tranny out of the car.
