Triumph Repair: TR6 Ignition, aspx page, keyswitch

Question
My idiot brother broke off the key in the ignition of my '73 TR6, and I'm wondering if I need to replace the whole ignition switch or I can just replace the key/locking mechanism. My problem is that after looking for a few hours I've not found just the key/locking mechanism parts anywhere.

Answer
This was back in the day where the column lock wasn't that sophisticated, so while there were security bolts used to attach the lock mech, it wouldn't take much remove the column  and drill them out, if you were so inclined.

A good locksmith might be able to fish out the key if you brought them the column.

The traditional parts sources, vicky b, TRF, moss, BPNW should have them listed, like in the example below:

You could also go the path I took on my TR6, not worry about a column lock, remove it, and just mount a keyswitch on the dash.

Hope that helps...
