Triumph Repair: lifting tr6 body off frame, exterior rust, mgb gt

Question
I recently bought a 72 tr6 for 4 thousand.I knew it had a bad frame when I bought it but the body and mechanicals are real good, straight panels,no door sag,no exterior rust that I can see, engine does not smoke, no crankshaft end-play,tranny rear and suspension have no noises and shifts smooth. It appears to me that the previous owners took care of it but the dreaded rear trail-arm supports are rotted out. They are beyond repair.I am planning on replacing the frame with a new Ratco frame.I fully am aware of what I am getting into but since I am retiring in a couple months I wanted something to keep me busy. I do not plan on doing a total resto unless there are things I find bad when disassembling. I am planning on just transferring everything from the bad frame to the new one. My question is where are the best lifting points on the body. I know about bracing the door openings. This will be my first time doing this but I had one of these many years ago and always wanted another one. I have been around cars my entire life and am a retiring maintenance mech with 35 yrs so I think I can handle it. Thanks in advance

Answer
Hi Dale,
I have restored a 72 but the frame was good so I did not take the body off, I just striped the body down and had it painted. However from working on other British roadsters I found that making a good "A" frame to replace the doors and I believe on the TR-6 I would cross brace between the two "A" frames too and use straps on the "A" frames to lift with.

For unit body cars I built a rotisserie that I can attach to the bottom of a car so I can remove the doors without body flex. I made it so I can do from a midget to a Jag on it. My present project is a MGB GT V-8 conversion.
