Triumph Repair: Spitfire speedometer remove and replace, thumb nuts, thumb nut

Question
I am replacing a voltage stabalizer behind my dash to hopefully get the gas gauge and the temp guage working.

I need some advice as to how to get the speedometer out.

Any Advice?

Thanks,

Mike

Answer
Hi Mike,
As for the speedo removal, if you reach behind the dash and feel the back of the speedo you should find on the back of the speedo a threaded stud (one on each side with a thumb nut on each. Remove both nuts and either a long plate that runs across the back or individual plates the extend down each side to the back of the dash. If you use a light and a mirror you can see the thumb nuts. After removing both nuts force the speedo out the front of the dash and remove the cable and plug-in lights.
Let me know how you did.
Howard
