Triumph Repair: TR6 Rear end and Clutch, clutch plate, slave cylinders

Question
Dave:  First thanks for the first answer.  I think the rear end hits so hard because the clutch needs to be adjusted.  The clutch engages about 1 inch from the floor and the car takes off.  I am used to my new 350Z with more clutch play.

There really is no thuds or chattering.  Just a quick engagement of the rear end because ...I believe...that the clutch is out of adjustment.

Thoughts and how do I adjust the clutch?

Question -
I have two questions about my 73 TR6.  First is probably pretty easy.  What type of fluid do I use to top off the clutch fluid?

Second question is:  The rear end hits really hard when I let out the clutch.  Is this the clutch or the rear end and how do I solve the problem?  Do I need to adjust the clutch?

Answer -
greg, the clutch just uses brake fluid. use regular fluid no mix or silicone. for the second can you describe it a little more? is it what is refered as "juddering" like quick thumping until the clutch plate is fully against the clutch? or is it like a slack then a hard thump? give me a little more info. thank's Dave

Answer
ok there is no adjustment for the clutch. the only thing i can think of would be  A, the TR was a pretty crude clutch to begin with and can't compare with the Z. or B, have some one push on the clutch while you look at the rod and slave cylinder operate. when it is pushed in it should stay in . if you can see the rod trying to go back out the fluid might be leaking past the seals in ether master or slave cylinders. if this happens the clutch will grab with a punch. dave
