i have purchase a new turn signal switch for a 79 truimp spitfire. i can't retrn it because l've spliced individual turn signal indicators into it, before testing the new colume switch. Hooking it up, i found that the head lights are on all the time, the head lite dash switch is good and off, the only way to turn the lights off is to pull the fuse. i'm asuming the problem is in the turn signal horn switch.  can i by pass the colume  switch, and just leave it to the dash switch.  i know by doing this my high beam wont be an option anymore.  if this can be done how?

Wes,

I'm not quite sure what you've got going here.  Did you splice into your new switch?  How?

Specifically, any idea of what connections you've "remade"?

I guess you really need to start at the beginning.  What was the original problem?  Turn signals not working?

If so, what steps did you take to remedy the situation?

And are you only looking now to make the headlights work with your current custom wiring job?  Or do you want to return the car to the original configuration?

Cheers,

the oringinal problem i had, was the turn signal not working, so i purchase a new switch, before testing new signal switch, i spiced in two individual turn signal indicators, left and right, orginally the spitefire just has one, indicator light on the dash.  so now i have a light for left and right indicator, spice into left and right turn sinal wire.  didn't notice before, since i was under the dash, but the head lights are on, all the time now, the dash switch has not effect on the lights.  the on and off switch will not turn off lights, switch is good, tested it. the only way to turn the lights off is to pull the fuse. but pulling the fuse, i lose everything else that the fuse controls. question is:  can i by pass the turn signal switch since the lights runs through the switch, (high beams) it runs through there. thinking that the problem is in the turn signal/horn switch, can i just by pass it and hook it to the on and off switch on the dash,  i know by doing this i lose my high beams.  how would i do it.

Answer
Wes,

I don't understand.  If the original problem was the turn signal switch (which also controls the horn and headlamp dipped/high beam control) and you have bought a new switch, why not just return the wiring back to the original factory configuration?

In the long run that would be the simplest solution.
