UK Car Repair: Oil leak, vauxhall astra mk4, oil seperator

Question
Hello , I have a Vauxhall Astra MK4 - 1999 - 1600 petrol. I have an oil leak coming from the throttle body housing, it is leaking onto the engine as well as spraying up into the plastic induct housing. The seal on the intake duct housing from throttle body seems fine.I am unable to work out where the oil would be coming from or what needs replacing. Thank you very much 4 any assistance - Neil

Answer
They are known for fouling the throttle body/duct with oil.

Only thing you can do is remove any oily parts, clean with carb cleaner.
run the engine and spray carb cleaner (with the intake fully assembled) into the airfilter, this will wash any residual oil out of the system - a quick blast down the Mway will finish the job.

Then watch for the return of the oil, if there's a light coating after a few days thats "normal" (yes I know...)

But if its literally dripping you have an engine problem.

Some owners have added an oil seperator to the crankcase breather, this cures the oil problem.
