UK Car Repair: Fuel Filters, jaguar xj12, fuel pumps

Question
Good Day!

1994 Jaguar XJ12 6.0L 5994cc Petrol V12, MFG. DATE: 1/93

I need to change the Fuel Filter(s) on my car. How many Fuel Filters does this car have?

Cheers,

Christopher Nagy

Answer
think there's a mesh/gause/felt filter actually on the pickup pipe in the fuel tank, a small filter in the fuel pump itself, and a can type filter somewhere along the fuel feed line. (as opposed to return line)

strictly speaking only the inline can-type filter on the fuel line needs to be replaced, if the car has covered over 300k miles then drain the tank, flush free of sediment (probably wont find any but you never know after so many gallons of fuel) and remove and flush the filter that's on the pickup pipe with petrol, (the fuel pumps built-in filter is really only a failsafe, dirt should never get lodged here so leave alone really) otherwise if the miles are reasonably low just change the one can filter, check that the fuel pressure is good and stable afterwards for peace of mind and you're sorted.
