UK Car Repair: Jeep Grand Cherokee Laredo 2.5ltr Diesel ABS, jeep grand cherokee laredo, jeep grand cherokee

Question
We have just had the brakes done on our 1997 Jeep grand cherokee laredo 2.5ltr diesel, when we got it back the ABS reacted every time we put our foot on the brake, then the ABS light came on and the ABS stopped working. We think that it probably needs a new sensor but here in the UK its going to cost over £200 just for the part. All US companies that I seem to contact only have the 4.0 ltr and the 5.2 ltr engine version, cant find a thing on ebay and need one desperate for the MOT due next month, obviously we have just paid out £600 for the brakes (we had a little issue with the front brakes!) so another £200 isn't possible at the moment... Is there any way of fixing the problem temporarily for the MOT or any where we could get one for around £50. Thanks for your time x

Answer
sounds like the wires to the sensors have been stretched. inspect each sensor and its wiring, the wire can be patched with any kind of flexible wire and spliced then taped with self amalgamating tape.

also check ebay.

as for sneaking it through  mot with no abs fuse installed and the warning light somehow disabled, its possible.
