UK Car Repair: rover 75 1.8 classic se, 2000, car press, programming hardware

Question
QUESTION: the key will open the vehicle and start the engine with no problem, however, there is no number associate with it.
This means it has not been programmed. How do i cure this or get a copy made that will work in the same way (ie without programming)
Regards
Peter

ANSWER: resynching the fob.

Stand close to car, press the padlock button 4 times quickly.

programming the fob though, you need to find a garage, parts shop, phone shop or... who took over rover servicing? (dealer) only those places can program your fob.

Someone with knowledge and programming hardware and software, I'm afraid it usually costs a lot of money to have done. Don't know why, - it takes seconds to do.

QUESTION: What now? The key stopped responding. This means the car is no longer driveable. Maybe the advice would be better reversed ie Find a garage....etc THEN ..they will press the key.....etc
What is my next move?

Answer
Remove the battery from the fob. Press the unlock button 10 times then press the lock button 10 times.(this is to drain down the key's memory). Replace the battery.
Make sure all doors, tailgate and bonnet are securely closed.
Lock then unlock drivers door with key but don't open it. Press LOCK button on key fob 4 times (some people say 8 times but 4 seems to work)
Press unlock and everything should be back to normal.
Do you have the E.K.A. (emergency key access) code? (possibly in the handbook or history) If the key won't re-sync this can be used to by-pass the immobiliser.
