UK Car Repair: peugeot 405 petrol, fuel pump relay, auto electrician

Question
Can i bypass the immobiliser on my peugeot 405 petrol? year 1995

Answer
Hi Dawn, as far as I know there is no simple way of bypassing the immobiliser as it immobilises 3 main circuits, 1. fuel pump 2. ignition 3. starter motor. The fuel pump and starter can be bypassed but ignition is harder unless it is just an ordinary coil (looks like a can of soda with two thin wires and one thick one), however an experienced auto-electrician should do this. If you intend to do it yourself then follow these simple steps.

1. Run a wire from any ignition live (any point which becomes live when the ignition is in the run position) to the + side of the coil (this should also work the fuel pump, if it does not, attach another wire from the same point to the signal of the fuel pump relay)

2. There are two wires going to the starter motor ( a very thick one and a thinner one ) after completing step 1 connect a live to the thinner wire (only momentarily) the starter should turn.

If you have the 2 components needed for the engine to run (fuel reaching the cylinders and a spark to ignite it) your engine should run.

This is not recommended, as incorrect electrical connections can cause fire - If you absolutely have no choice, be sure to use thick wire with a high current capability - Good luck - Paul
