UK Car Repair: rover 111 speedo stopped working, rover 111, move the car

I have a rover 111 N reg 1995.  It was working perfectly and then the speedo went down to ) and wouldn't move.  The car was still running fine and no warning lights came on rev counter, temperature guage, petrol guage etc all still working fine Any ideas?

It is most likely a defective transducer, this is the small generator that transmits the signal from the transmission to the speedometer.  Check the dealer for availability and location. (they will give you a print out of the location on the transmission)
