QUESTION: I need to know procedure for removal and replacement of a starter motor for a 1995 JaguarXJ6. The car just makes a faint click when trying to start. Thank you

ANSWER: Before going that far check the relay, it is near top centre of the firewall.  Take off the large white/red cable and short it directly to the battery positive, the starter should work. If so replace the relay, If not,disconnect the battery remove the air cleaner and inlet tubing raise the car and from underneath remove the lower bolt 9/16, then from above the top bolt. See if a gear reduction starter is available, its easier,

For some reason I gave you the starter process for a 1985, did you do it?  The icons are, Left; from top, transmission, w/Washer fluid, Bulb fault' Charging, Anti lock brakes, low fuel check engine;  Right: Ex temp, Oil press, Seat belts, boot open,doors open, water temp, water level.
