UK Car Repair: car will not start after battery change, battery change, fuel pump

HI,  i changed the battery on my daughters Punto but now it will not start.  The
engine spins over, the fuel pump hums and there is a spark at the plug!!  is
there a fuel cut off or something that i have to reset after changing the battery?

IT IS MORE LIKELY THAT YOU HAVE TRIGGERED THE SECURITY SYSTEM, DOES IT HAVE A REMOTE KEY? TRY RESETTING THE SYSTEM BY USING THE REGULAR KEY IN THE DOOR, TURN IT TO LOCK THEN UNLOCK, HOLDING IT IN EACH POSITION FOR 5 SECONDS, NOW QUICKLY USE THE REMOTE TO LOCK AND UNLOCK. NOW TRY TO START IT.
