UK Car Repair: Daewoo Lanos Missfire, daewoo lanos, spark plug wires

Question
Hello William,

I have a 1998 Daewoo Lanos 1.6 SX automatic. Once the engine is up to normal running temperature it frequently misfires on hard acceleration from stand still. It does not do this when the engine is cold and it does not do this on hard acceleration at speed, only from stand still. I have found that changing the spark plugs solves the problem temporarily, e.g. for a month or two, but then the problem comes back again. Any ideas on what may be causing this and a permanent cure?

Thanks for your time.

Steve

Answer
I have been thinking about this odd problem. It almost surely is temperature related. Meaning, it is leaning out OR the spark is being reduced. For some reason I suspect the ignition system, replace the Spark plug wires and check the distributor cap and see what happens. Please keep me informed.
