UK Car Repair: 78 midget brakes, rear drums, missing joe

Question
hello, in rebuilding, I've replaced the brake sysem on my 78 midget.. new shoes,pads,master cylinder, flexable lines. now after bleeding the brakes for the 15th time. I still get a pedal that goes to the floor the first pump and then caches on the 2nd and 3rd pump. no leaks, and the rear wheels are adjusted to spec? any ideas on what i'm missing.. joe

Answer
Hello Joe; Normally this would be attributed to excessive clearance between the pads & Rotor or shoes & drum. So start there, it is easy to look at the fronts, on the rear drums the play could be in the operating linkage to the cylinders. If all seems well, eliminate the rear system by gently clamping the rear brake hose, -there are special rounded pliers to do this but any clamp type pliers (used carefully- not to much pressure) for just a few minutes, will do. Now operate the pedal if it is hard the fronts are OK, if it is spongy still, the problem is in the front system.  Try this and get back to me.  Good Luck;
