UK Car Repair: 1969 dodge dart pulls left, wheel bearings, dodge dart

Question
hello, thanks so much for taking the time to help me. I have a 1969 dodge dart, recently i hit a curb and blew the tire, upon changing it the car now pulls severely to the left when driving, i noticed the brake drums (or what ever the tire bolts into) is now slightly angled to the top right. I was wondering if that mostly likely explains the pulling, and how i could go about fixing that my self or if the pullings because of something else. Thank you again, ur a life saver.

Answer
Have the wheel bearings replaced and also replace the inner wheel bearing races. If you find that the spindle is bent you may need to replace it, it should be obvious once you get the hub off. If the new wheel bearings set the hub straight you will need to have the front end aligned to ensure you have not bent anything else. You cannot have the spindle straightened so if anyone offers decline the offer. The UK cars that use kingpins and spindles could be straightened with some success, US made cars use an induction hardened steel that is impossible to repair once tweaked. If you have to replace one spindle due to a bent stub axle you might as well get new spindles and a few other components and convert the car over to disc brakes. I use the 70-74 Dart spindles for my 68 Dart 340 GT convertible and my 65 Plymouth Fury to swap disc brakes onto the older system.
Your car is what’s referred to as A Body. A Body "Dart, Demon, Duster" and C Body "Fury, Belvedere, Monaco, Newport" share many of the same suspension and braking components. You can get these parts from www.drmopar.com as he has over 500 Mopars in his salvage yard and can provide most everything to do what you need to do. But, try the wheel bearings first. You would probably spend around $500 USD on spindles, calipers, discs, hoses, and a master cylinder for the disc conversion. I imagine trying to source those parts in the UK would be quite a challenge and I suggest you use US suppliers to get the parts you need. Most people find that buying new parts from US parts stores and having them shipped is cheaper than most other alternatives.
