Volkswagen Repair: 2001 first model Volkswagen Passat, volkswagen passat, clutch pedal

Question
I was driving home one day and lost all pressure in the clutch pedal and it just dropped to the floor, how can I tell if its a cable or hydralic cause there was no fluid underneath the the car afterwards can you please point me in the right direction I love the car but time are bad

Answer

Passat_clutch
Devin,
It is hydraulic.  There is a Master cylinder (at the pedal) and a Slave cylinder (at the transmission).  It has plastic parts and hoses that may have burst.  Also check the reservoir is not empty of fluid.  I believe this model uses a fluid supply tap on the drivers side of the same reservoir as the brakes.  If it does, it could be low, but because the tap is higher for the clutch, the brakes will still function.
