Volkswagen Repair: 95 passat shift linkage does not go into reverse, target product, passat v6

Question
i have a 1995 passat v6 . It does not shift into reverse.
i can push it into reverse by hand by pushing the gear selector ( not sure if that is correcr part name ) on top of the transmission. there is a rod with a ball at the end of it and the piece that is connected to is connected a black plastic part ( this part is broken ) it aids in pushing gear selector down . I don't know what part is called or where i could find a repalcement.
