Volkswagen Repair: 2001 Passat audio, vw passat, volkswagen dealer

Question
I have a 2001 VW Passat SDN GLS
Sometime last year, I needed a emergency jumpup, but the person who helped me put wire in the wrong, it blowed out my radio.

I want to take the audio device out to change the fuse behind.  Hope this will solve the problem i had

I want to know if there is a map out there showing how i can take the audio out. And do I need some special tools to take the audio out?  How could I do it?

Thank you very much!!!

Answer
Hello Xueyuan;
There are special radio removal tools necessary.  They are inserted into the corners of radio itself to unlock it, and then you need to just pull straight out.  However, since the radio has been without power for a year there is a special code that needs to be entered into the radio for it to work, even if the fuse replacement generates the desired result.  Once you have the radio out of the dash, write down the number that is stamped into the radio itself, it will be 14 digits long.  It will look something like:  "VWZ5Z7G1167780" this.  Write it down, and with your vehicle identification number you can call your local Volkswagen dealer, and they can tell you what the radio "code" is.  Good luck.
