Volkswagen Repair: 2001.5 vw passat check engine light, crankcase breather hose, intake plenum

2001 .5 vw passt with 65,000 miles Hi after I filled up with gas my check engine light came on I thought it would go after a few fill ups instead it began to idle rough "but run great" At stop lights it will jerk and stutter and cause the check engine light to flash then when I take off it clear up and runs like a dream the dealer say it has engine sludge and needs the timing valve tensioner thing i was lost and confused as to the repair and he said it soucle still need more things due to multiple codes  I need help.

I think you have a clogged "suction jet pump," and a split crankcase breather hose, or maybe 2.  There is a 3 way hose on the back of the cylinder head, under the plastic cover, and there is another one that is smaller diameter, and turns a 90 degree angle on the drivers side of the intake plenum.  Check those things, and get them replaced.  Start using ONLY synthetic oil, and get it changed every 2000 to 2500 miles...never over 2500 miles, and always synthetic oil.  Your car should run a lot smoother then.  Good luck.
