which set of rear brakes would work for my 2004 VW Passat?

I am looking for a decent pair of rear brake pads and possible rotors for my Passat. the engine is the 1.8 turbo.when I try to order them online, it says somehting about chassis number. does this make a difference for my vehicle?

John, thank you for your question.    The chassis number does make a difference since VW built several different configurations in the last 9 years and even within a year model.  With out the right chassis number, you could end up with a set of brakes or rotors that either will not fit or are not designed to handle a particular stress that is on those parts.
