Volkswagen Repair: 71 squareback electrical, fuse box, appendix c

Question
When I try to turn on the blinkers, the indicators in the dash both light up and they don't flash at all.  My parking lights don't work either.  I have replaced the flasher in the fuse box, but the fuses keep blowing when I try to use the blinkers. What could be the problem and how do I fix it?

Rachel, Thank you for your question.  The problem with the flashers is probably that they are miswired.  The flasher should be wired as below:
31 – Brown wire
49a – black/green/white and solid blue
+ - Solid white
The best manual is the Bentley manual for Type 3.  this is listed in the manual in Appendix C
