Volkswagen Repair: 1986 VW Cabriolet not firing, 1986 vw cabriolet, vw cabriolet

I have replaced ignition coil, igniton module, rotor buttom, distributor cap but still no fire. I bought the car from a friend who stated someone else pulled something off the car under the hood but she did not know what. Is there anything else that can keep the car from firing?

Melvin! Sorry for the delayed reply! Did you get the Cabrio started? Did you verify whether or not you actually have spark at the plugs? Do you have fuel up to the motor? Water cooled VWs aren't my main line of expertise but the ignition system is pretty simple on these cars. If still no fire, check (or have someone check it for you) the "Hall Effect" unit inside your distributor (a fairly common problem). Let me know how it's going! Thanks!
