Volkswagen Repair: Front tie rod ends, tie rod ends, royal pita

Question
I have a 95' Jetta GL, 2.0 car that needs front tie rod ends. I can't seem to locate these parts in my area. I had a VW dealership inspect the front end and with my experience I believe they are right. But I would like to pay a lot less for the parts then what they want to do the work. Can I do this job at home easily? Will I need any special presses or anything? Do you know where I can get the parts as I have tried this site and they don't have them. Thanks.

Answer
I am not sure where abouts you live but if your in the States, Autozone or Pep Boys should carry the parts or know where to get them.  If your in Canada like me you can find them at Lordco or NAPA.  If your in Europe I have no idea.  Changeing them I would leave to an alignment shop, tie rods on any car can be a royal PITA.  You have to usaully unscrew a seized nut then pound the snot out of it to break it free.  Once you have one in your hand you'll know exactly how it goes in.  I also suggest a shop cause your gonna need an alignment afterwards.

Good Luck,
Ryan
