Volkswagen Repair: Continual Recharging of the Battery, vw corrado, alternator

Question
I have a 1991 VW Corrado, G60.  It currently has 183000kms.  Over the last year, I have been experiencing problems with what I thought was the battery of our car.  The car wouldn't start at first so I assumed it was the battery.  I had that replaced and about a month later the car wouldn't start again.  I had it checked out and my mechanic said it might be the starter.  I had that replaced and the car was fine for about 6 months.  The car wouldn't start again, so we took it to another mechanic and he said it might be the alternator.  We had that refurbished and the car still does not always start.  It struggles to start after about a week.  We have to keep having the battery recharged.  We've been told that 'something' keeps draining the battery.  No one has been able to find out what is draining it.  Nothing is left on after we switch off the engine.  The one thing that I can think of is the fan that cools the engine off, but even that only runs for a few minutes.  We have an alarm system on the car, but we've switched it off.  Could it be that?  It was suggested.  I'm getting tired and frustrated with this problem because no one seems to have an answer.  Can you shed some light on this?  Thank you for your time.

First off read through these and double check these things on your car,

Seems like there are a few standard problems that happen to Corrados. Let me know if you still have problems and I will guide you through a few more indepth tests.

Good Luck,
