Volkswagen Repair: 2000 Passat ignition, water sinks, full tank

Question
The other day my Passat had difficulty starting.  The starter was turning over but not igniting.  After messing around with it a while pumping the gas and turning the starter it finally kicked on.  I haven't had the problem again but I can tell it doesn't start as smoothly as before.  What could cause this?  Sparkplug or injectors?

Answer
Your not getting fuel.  You can try to change the fuel filter.  Also, I am suspecting (because of the time of year) you got moisture in the fuel tank and a blob of water sinks to the bottom and makes a good plug, not allowing fuel to flow past.  To get rid of this, buy a small container of gasline antifreeze and dump it in a full tank of fuel.  It will mix with the water and with the gas and will pull the water thru the system to be burnt by the engine.
