Question
QUESTION: 1995 VOLVO 850 GLT

The blower motor turns on from time to time after engine is turned off. It drains my battery. How do I prevent this from happening permanently?

ANSWER: Von, The blower inside the car or are you talking about the cooling fan on the radiator?  Roger

QUESTION: It is the cabin blower (inside the car). The fan turns on by itself a while after the engine is switched off. I have had to replace my battery twice because of this. I must switch the ignition key to position #1 to switch it off. Can I turn it off for good or is there any part I should change.

ANSWER: Von, most likely its the A/C control head and resistor.  Expensive stuff unfortunately.  But It may also be the sensor that goes into the evaporator case.  You may want a Volvo shop to check this out for you.  Roger

QUESTION: Thank you, Roger.

I read in one forum that it could be a "special" feature to "dry out" the evaporator. If you think it's the sensor, can I immobilize that to keep it from turning on after I switch off the engine? I had it checked with Volvo and they could not find what's wrong with it.

Answer
Thats only on the later model cars.  The 95 didnt have that feature as far as I know.  you can immobilize it if you want to unplug your A/C control head all the time.  you can try unplugging the sensor but The control head will start doing crazy things like flashing lights and then not turn on the blower, etc.  Roger
