Volvo Repair: Ready codes for smog check, california smog test, catalytic convertor

Question
I recently replaced both front & rear oxygen sensors on my 1998 V70.  Had the battery disconnected for about 16 hours just to make sure the computer would reset.  Since then I've done multiple driving "trips" and even had the dealer connect vst to verify there aren't any stored fault codes. All seems normal, but the ready codes won't light for a California smog test.  What do I try next?

Answer
Michael, I believe you are asking about how to set the OBDII readiness monitors? There is a specific procedure for it but normal driving usually does it. The VST should show what monitors are not being set. The most common is the catalytic convertor not "lighting" read (not getting hot enough) Try hard highway driving and see if that sets it. Otherwise, with the VST connected, you should be able to perform the test and set the monitors. I do not know why they did not give you that option?
By the way, if the monitors are NOT set, you should have a check engine light on??????
