Volvo Repair: remote door unlocking, 1997 volvo 960, volvo 960

I have a 1997 Volvo 960.  The doors will lock with the key fob, but will not unlock with the key fob.  When you press it once, you can hear something making a noise in the driver's door, and if you press it twice, then you hear it in the other doors, but they dont unlock.  Any idea what this could be?

 Steve, it soundslike the signal is being sent.(The noises you hear are int the right places.) First I would replace the battery to be sure. Then I would make sure everything is cleaned and well lubed. Latches, lock cylinders etc. Cycle every door with the key a few times to help free it up? Did this happen all at once or did it come on gradually? Did you have a recent cold snap? Heavy rain?
