Volvo Repair: Timing Belt, volvo s 80, hind sight

I have a 1999 Volvo S-80 with a 2.9 engine. I,m replacing the timing belt. I cannot find a mark on the lower crank gear. The engine has been turned since the belt was removed so I need to know hot to time it. Thanks

  I hope you have not turned the engine with the starter? If it has made a full revolution without the belt, you now have bent valves.
  It is prudent to mark everything yourself before removing the belt. But hind sight is always 20-20, I know.  
  The timing procedure is not simple and you really need a manual. Go to www.alldata.com and you can purchase one annual subscription for your car very reasonably. I think @ $ 25.00. you can download the instructions and print them out for use in the garage.
