Volvo Repair: 96 volvo 85 kills batteries every winter, slow turnover, cold weather

Question
my 96 850 turbo wagon goes thru about 3 batteries each winter. problem starts with a slow turnover of engine as soon as cold weather starts. gets progressively worse until battery is sometimes soooo dead cant even jump it or recharge it. if it is able to be jumped, battery does not recharge while driving it to the reapir station. car checked negative for draws on the battery. i have 2 babies and dread the thought of another winter jumping my car and eventally getting totally stuck. car is currently using one of those huge audi batteries. cold weather just hit us and already car is starting mych slower. if i am driving my car for a while and it is warm will usually start much faster and easier. PLEASE HELP!!!!

Answer
Mary, without testing, I'm only guessing. There almost HAS to be an excessive draw with the vehicle off. The glove box light staying on is one of them due to a misadjusted switch. Pull the bulb, and see if it helps if you do not have the diagnostic equipment necc. Same for the trunk lighting. Be sure the switch is not being left on. Again pull the bulb temporarily.
What climate do you live in and what temps. are you seeing for cold?
Electrical problems are almost impossible to diagnose without testing. I'm just suggesting some of the common failures.
