Volvo Repair: 04 Volvo V70 T5, brake warning light, volvo v70

I have a 2004 Volvo V70 T5. I have a strange intermittent issue. It happen the first time a year ago and then again in the spring and now twice this week. I’ll be driving a long and the speed odometer, tach and temp gauge all go off. The ABS warning light, brake warning light will come on as well as the check engine light. I’ll have at least two messages, one stating the brake system has failed and one regarding the engine system. The transmission will not down shift below 3rd gear. If I stop and turn off the car and restart it everything will return to normal. I still have the one message regarding the engine system and the check engine light. I have a scanner and read the following error codes:

U0002 – High Speed Communication Bus performance
U0073
P0571 – Brake Switch A Circuit
P0504

John, Your scanner wont tell me anything.  Needs to be scanned with the VADIS system.  From what it sounds like, its sounds like problem with the ABS module but a full system scan would need to be performed.  Handheld scanners are great for the older cars but these new ones need the VADIS system.  Roger
