Volvo Repair: o-ring on Volvo oil filter housing, oil filter housing, o ring

Question
Sorry for the incredibly stupid question. When putting the o-ring on the housing that contains the oil filter insert, does the o-ring go so that it forms a cushion between the housing and the engine, or does it go in the larger gap above that so that the plastic housing makes direct contact with the engine and the o-ring sits a bit further up?

Richard, it goes on the spot where you took the old one off.  Basicaly its the last gap on the bottom if you are looking at the housing from top to bottom.  Roger


I answered your question in the nicest fashion that I could.  I wasnt being rude.  There is only 1 logical place that oring can go and its the wider spot towards the bottom of the housing.  If you thought I was rude, then I appologize.  Roger
