Volvo Repair: Variable timing - 2000 Volvo S80, volvo specialist, cam shaft

Question
I have a 2000 Volvo S80 non-turbo. It came in with an oil leak which I fixed but I also changed the timing belt and cam shaft seal. Now the car won't run at all, and even though the timing marks are lined up, I fear it's a timing issue because I'm told that the from cam shaft has variable timing, which is very touchy. Any clues what I can look at or try?  I am ASE Certified but with Chryslers, etc. Never worked on these Volvos! Thanks.

Answer
Chris, There is a special tool that you need to keep the cams from moving.  Its definately a timing issue.  That VVT is very touchy.  There is a specific procedure that needs to be done.  If you can get the timing marks back on and borrow the tool, then I may be able to guide you through it. If not, befriend someone at a Volvo specialist shop or dealer.  Roger
