Volvo Repair: Volvo replacement airbags covered under warranty?, independent volvo, side airbag

I have a 99 s70 volvo with 119,000 miles. My SRS light came on and the delarship tells me it will cost 1200 to replace the driver's side airbage. My car's original warranty ran out. Is this price average for the replacement of the driver's side airbag? Is this covered under warranty because of safety reasons?

Melissa, That is way too expensive and they are trying to rip you off.  I would get a second opinion from a independent Volvo shop.  Airbags are covered only until the manufactures warranty is up.  They need to be inspected every 10 years but if there are no cracks in the bag then you are okay.  Roger
