Volvo Repair: 85 Volvo 240 DL Transmission, volvo 240 dl, salvage yard

Hi, my 85 Volvo 240 DL only goes in reverse and I know what the problem is, I was just wondering what the prices I am looking at by getting the transmission fixed so I can drive it.  I don't want to get over charged... Thank you.

Amberlynn, Well, To be honest, I wouldnt let any of those Transmission joints rebuild your transmission.  They will mess it up and it will never be right.  I recommend either a salvage yard trans that comes with a warranty or a Volvo remanufactured trans but that is pretty costly.  A salvage trans can be about 5-7 hundred bucks plus the install. It all depends on what you want to do with the car.  If its in nice shape, then spend the money.  I wouldnt pay more than $1000 to get it repaired.  What are they trying to quote you?  Roger
