Volvo Repair: volvo 960, volvo 960, miss fire

Question
ok, my volvo is acting wierd because it is stumbing at idle, and it is stumbling when you try to accelerate. the check engine light has been on for a while but just recently it will blink when i try to accelerate fast like when i try to get on the highway or somthing. so i would like to know what is wrong with it. my guess is either a miss fire or a vacume leak but i dont want to sound like an idiot.  please help!!!

Answer
Allan, most likely it sounds like the air mass meter or an intake gasket leak but you would be able to hear that leak.  Best test is to run the car, unplug the meter while its running, let the car surge and then replug in the meter.  If the car stalls, then the culprit is the meter. If not, then more tests would need to be performed.  I would have a volvo shop take a look.  Roger
