Volvo Repair: 1993 850 volvo, fuel pumps, timing belt

Question
my wife was driving the car yesterday was getting off the interestate ramp. going about 30mph and went to speed up again. the car died and all the lights came on coasted to the shoulder and tried to restart the car. the starter sounded funny and wouldnt start. had it towed and i thought it jumped the timing belt so bought a new one and put it on. turned over by hand didnt hit or stop made about three complete turns. so i thought to check compression and found none. could it still be out of time? also the cars sounds funny with no plugs it turns over slow and doesnt sound like it is turning over fast at all. any ideas?

Answer
Danny, if the timing belt broke or if the cams spun over and the marks are off, there was probably some valve crash.  They do sound funny with no plugs in them.  The 93 is also notorious for bad fuel pumps.   Without checking the car and doing a few tests, it may be anything.  I suggest a Volvo Shop to help you out.  Roger
