Volvo Repair: V70 transmission, volvo cars, oil leaks
QuestionOur 99 V70 has 122k miles and the auto trans is completly gone in reverse. I have been checking some of the forums and aparantly these trannies are complete junk and typically go between 55-60k miles. So we either did well or more likly its already on its second trans.(we are the second owners) So the question is this.....are there any other trannies that will fit in this car. I dont even care if it has to be a manual trans. I just dont want to waste another 3500 dollars on another timebomb trans. The car still looks perfect but at the moment it is relegated to yard art. Thanks for your advise.

Answerso far i know i work many years for volvo and still work for volvo aw 55-50 transmission that you have in your car are good so far the best they go up to 150000 k with no problems if you take care of maintenance like fluid change and fix oil leaks if the car is good it is worth putting transmission in car also engine can go up to 400000-500000k (with proper maintenance) before rebuilding .my opinion is get new trans from volvo and don't buy used trans it will have same problem in future maybe.you are not on timebomb if you go with new trans trust me i see volvo cars like yours everyday and all go over 100k before any repair on trans what you find online forums about trans it is wrong those people who write that don't do maintenance or abuse the car or bought a lemon car .any car that you buy it will need some work soon or later .you can't put manual trans in auto trans
