Volvo Repair: 2005 XC 90 front rotors, volvo xc 90, wheel drive suv

Question
Hello Roger:  Thanks for taking the time to answer my question.  I have a 2005 Volvo XC 90, which has 37000 miles.  I have owned it since new.  I recently took the car in for oil change and inspection at our volvo dealer and was told that the front rotors are below the required thickness and they need to be replaced.  I have just changed all four brakes only 6 months ago at the dealer and I am sure that I changed them before they started grinding on them rotors.  I have never needed to replace rotors on any of the cars that I have driven, granted I have never owned a front wheel drive SUV.  Does it sound reasonable that I needed to replace the front rotors?  Please advise.  (I spent $350 doing so)
thanks

Will

Answer
Will, Rotors on Volvos are a common issue.  I dont think the rotors have gone bad that quickly.  Perhaps the pads.  do you notice the steering wheel vibrate when you brake? If so then yes, replace them. If not, then if the pads are below spec then replace those only. Roger
