Volvo Repair: 1989 Volvo GL 4 door sedan, fuel pump relay, noid light

on highway driving 65 mph, car suddenly acted like it was running out of gas (I had plenty of gas)or lost pressure....I kept going and was pushing on the gas but then it literally died on me and I stopped.  we tested the fuel pump...good......checked the number 1 spark plug...getting spark...checked the fuel line...good....checked the timing...good....battery and connections good....when I try to start it, it turns over but acts like its not getting any gas.....I had to be towed...I had 3 different guys that know about cars and they could not get it to start....suggested maybe the fuel injectors???  this is my first volvo, I purchased it used, so I know nothing!  Please Help!!  THANK YOU

Debra, There is ia fuel pump relay under the passenger area.  Its white.  I need to know if its clicking when you turn over the car.  You may be having a problem with the Engin control module.  If you have a noid light, then you can see if there is pulse at the injectors.  The injectors rarely go bad on these cars.  Roger
