Volvo Repair: volvo suspension, control arm bushings, strut mounts

Question
QUESTION: I have a 2002 s60 with 100k miles. The ride seems to have gradually gotten worse. Also, the tires scrub in the wheel wells when turning hard and also when riding on rough road. Is it time for new struts or springs? Is there a way for me to check? I just replaced rotors and pads and did not see any leaks on the struts.

ANSWER: Kenny, what is probably worn is the control arm bushings and perhaps the upper strut mounts.  Way to check the cushions is to use a flashlight and pry up on top of the strut tower and see if the cushion is broken.  Then if you replace the cushion, then you can check the strut.  I would be they are still good.  100k is still new.  Roger

QUESTION: Roger, the ride kept getting worse and to the point of terrible vibration when turning under hard acceleration so I broke down and changed strut cushions and control arm bushings. It helped the ride immensely, but the vibration on hard turn during acceleration is still there and getting worse. Any ideas?

Answer
Kenny, I forgot to ask you if someone put bigger tires on this car for some reason.  Did you check the motor mounts?  This is a tough one because I can inspect the car for you.  I would have to drive it and see what is going on for you.  If you check all the above, you may have to go to a Volvo shop so they can pinpoint the problem.  Roger
