Volvo Repair: Distributor, intermediate shaft, hot wire

I have put a 1987 volvo B230(Turbo) engine in a boat. The distributor is on the head and will not fire the plugs. I think it needs the cars computer, Is there a way to hot wire it?, If not i see an expansion plug where the points distributor would go on the block Is it just cast that way or is there a gear under there to convert it to the other style distributor??

Mason, all those blocks should have the plug to convert to the other style distributor.  There should be an intermediate shaft in there with the gearing all set.  87 is going to have that plug on the back of the distributor so the only other option is to convert to other distributor.  Roger
