Volvo Repair: 95 volvo 850 with 2,4 motor non turbo head replacement, timing purposes, old cam

Question
I replaced cracked head and I failed to mark either cam-the replacement cam did not have a gear so I used gear from the old cam not knowing I needed to identify the exaust or intake,  I need to know which way the lobes should point on both cams on cylinder 1  Are the lobes the same on both the intake cam & exaust cam  for timing purposes thanks

Answer
Ralph, There is a special tool for this.  As long as you are sure which is intake and which is exhaust you should be fine.  If you look at the back of the cams, the slots should be horizontal Pretty sure lobe 1 on cylinder 1 should be up.  This has never happened to me so Im doing this by memory fromt the books.  Roger
