Volvo Repair: 02 V70XC Coins in radio - climate control now dead, wiring loom, volvo dealer

Question
Okay, I'm in big trouble with the wife.  We are blessed with two year old twins and they were left in my 02 V70XC (normally aspirated) wagon for all of 5 minutes (in the garage whilst unloading the groceries).  In this time the kids thought it'd be kind of fun to place several (electrically conducting) coins in the audio cassette aperture.  I didn't know about this until when going over bumps the radio would intermittently function.  The coins were impossible to get out so we left these in situ and just didn't use the radio.

Everything was going well until all of a sudden I lost all power to the climate control i.e. cannot use AC, heating, heated seats, defrosters - the whole 10 yards.  So, I belatedly made an attempt to remove the coins but there is still one jammed inside the casette deck and I suspect it has intermittently shorting out a couple of pins on one of the ICs I can see.  I've checked all the fuses and they are just fine.

Therefore, here are my questions:

1)Is there something like a climate control ECU in the vehicle that I could locate and trace power loss from there?

2)How do I remove all the facia to get at the cassette deck and Climate Control ECU (if applicable) - is there a manual and pics anywhere? This is my biggest challenge I think.

3)Does anybody know if there is a hidden fuse somewhere for this climate control circuit.  Is there a wiring loom diagram I can get hold of?

Basically, I live in Western NY and the temperatures are now 15F below freezing and the car is freezing - this is no good for the kids and this is a hazard.  I'm a EE and have the time to strip the car down and replace modules myself (or even by pass the module and hardwire the heating circuit if possible).  I don't have $1000+ to pay a Volvo dealer, sadly.  I can live with an intermittent radio but no heating or AC is a killer.

Please help.  All coments welcome.

Paul

Answer
Well Paul, sad to say but you are going to need to find that $1000 from somewhere because there is nothing that you can do to remedy this situation.  Even if i told you where the modules were it wouldnt do you anygood because they have to download the program into the car.  Lessoned learned.  NEVER leave kids alone.  Roger

Paul, Thanks for the negative remarks.  Figure it out yourself if you dont want my advice.  RP
