Volvo Repair: s80 t6 problems, brake failure, computer displays

Question
Roger, Lately my 1999 s80 t6 has been giving me problems.
I live in Minnesota, where it gets pretty cold. (Not sure if that matters) Anyways, my car will crank fine, then immediately shut off. Then, after I restart it ( a few times) I give it some gas and it will run, like crap, but it will run. Then I check it a few days later, runs like new. About 20 miles into driving, I lose all gauges except for the gas. Now if I shut it off, I will have the same starting problems, and now my computer displays problems that don't exist with the car, i.e. "Brake failure Stop ASAP" or "Transmission service required" A few rough starts later, and those messages disappear and the car runs perfectly. I thought I was out of the problems until 4 days later, same cycle....Please help

Answer
Jason, Take my advice and go trade this car in.  This is the worst year for the S80 and now you are getting into the expensive stuff.  Transmission service  required usually means, My transmission is about to fail., Brake failure is just that, its failing, most likely a Master cylinder.  As far as the other stuff goes, Sounds like that Throttle body is failing.  That is under recall by Volvo, so at least that is free. The gauges sound like some kind of module is going bad. These cars are nightmares.  Good Luck.  Roger
