Volvo Repair: 1987 240dl overdive solenoid, solonoid, shift gear

Question
I replaced the overdrive relay 4 months ago when light came on--fixed the problem. The od light came on again recently and fuse 11 blew. I replaced the od solenoid. The light on dash went out and shifter button turns it on/off, but it stays in overdrive--won't shift gear at 45 mph. Is it possible that two ports clogged are problem? When I first took old solenoid out and looked at it 8 oz of ATF seeped out. I reinstalled old solenoid then removed it again when I got the new one and no ATF seeped this time. Thanks for help.

Answer
Joe, test the new one on the battery.  Use the end of the solonoid on the negative and use the wire on the pos.  If it clicks its goo.  Can you hear the solonoid clicking when you are turning it on and off?  Clean the ports and use a known good solonoid.  If not then Im sorry to say that its internal in the trans.  Roger
