Volvo Repair: C70 Reliability?, fuel leaks, window regulators

Question
Hello,
I'm thinking of buying a 1999 Volvo C70 convertible but I'm wondering how reliable they are.  This one has 58,000 miles and looks in really nice condition, they are asking $12,600.  I commute a long distance (100 miles round trip a day) and am wondering how reliable this car might be for me?
Thanks,
Kevin

Answer
The car should be reliable for the most part but things to look out for:

1 - window regulators will fail and the windows will not work.  They parts plus labor to replace it is almost 900 dollars

2 - the throttle bodies on this car can and will go bad resulting in poor performance or it may have to be towed.  The warranty on that part is 10 years 200,000 miles so it will still be under warranty for a while.

3 - with excessive top use the rear glass can sometimes start to seperate.  The only repair is to replace the top.  That repair is serveral thousand dollars.

4 - sometimes hoses on top of the gas tank will crack causing fuel leaks.

Thats about all of the common stuff we see with that car.  Just get it checked out good before you buy it.  Also try getting a good extended warranty with it.  It is definitly worth it.  If you buy it certified preowned from a volvo dealer it comes with a great warranty already so just look around first.
