Volvo Repair: 2002 S60 air conditioning, volvo dealers, car one

Question
The air conditioning is not at the volume it was when we purchased this car one month ago.  There is cool air coming out, but not a great volume.  The service dept. at the nearest Volvo dealers (230 & 290) miles respectively stated it could be the air conditioning filter.  Where is that located?  Can I find it and clean it myself?

Answer
Yes you can remove yourself.  It is not recommended to be cleaned, however.  It just needs to be replaced.  To access it you need to remove the panel under the glove box on the passenger side.  It is held in with 2 torx 25 bolts.  (If you don't know what that is, go to a sear and ask an associate, and they can get you the right tool.  It will be inexpensive.)  Then you will see the air conditioner case bottom.  It is white.  There is a black rectangular panel on the bottom, held in by 4 gold torx 25 screws.  Remove those and pull off the panel.  The filter can be pulled out straight down.  Just be sure to notice how it is oriented when it comes out.  It is not square, and can only go back one way to work properly.  Takes only a few minutes to do.
